My Client, a well established and successful business in their niche in the Construction Industry, is looking for an experienced Head of Finance to lead and manage all aspects of the organisation's financial operations, including accounts payable, purchase ledger, payroll, and management accounting.
The Head of Finance will ensure financial stability and provide strategic financial planning and effective resource allocation to support business objectives.
This role is a crucial stepping stone to a future Finance Director position and is essential for overseeing financial performance, providing actionable insights for growth and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership: Drive the financial health and growth of the business by ensuring financial stability, robust strategic planning and efficient resource allocation.
- Team Management: Build and motivate a high-performing finance team to deliver exceptional results.
- Financial Analysis: Utilise advanced management accounting systems to provide real-time business insights to managers.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to statutory requirements and Financial Reporting Standards.
- Risk Management: Safeguard against financial risks by managing payroll processes, authorising statutory returns and ensuring tax compliance.
Key Results Areas
- Produce insightful, forward-looking financial data for review with relevant managers using various reporting tools.
- Ensure the accuracy of all accounting and management reports.
- Authorise PAYE, NI, P11D, VAT, and Corporation Tax returns.
- Maintain compliance with Group Finance and Administration Manual requirements.
- Conduct annual and semi-annual performance appraisals and develop team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA)
- Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience in a UK business
- Strong skills in reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, compliance, leadership and strategic planning
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, adaptability, flexibility, time management and integrity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and other relevant financial software
- Experience with BI tools like Board or equivalent
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports and SQL
Preferred:
- Experience in the UK Civil Engineering / Construction / Construction Hire industry
