Responsibilities: Responsible for complete and accurate accounting records for Aioi Nissay Dowa Europe Ltd (ANDEL) and its wholly owned UK registered companies, in accordance with IFRS (4 and 17). Preparation and submission of quarter-end Group consolidated results under IFRS 17 and related analysis to Aioi Nissay Dowa Japan (ADJ), the Japanese parent. Including being responsible for completing all ADJ “forms” to answering detailed questions from ADJ. Manage month end, quarter end and annual Group close. Preparing and agreeing timetable for each close on a timely basis and ensuring other teams’ tasks are completed as scheduled as well as completing Group team tasks in accordance with the timetable such as: * Managing the Group IFRS 16 processes. Request data and create the relevant journals for the UK and European finance teams. * Monitoring, booking, and managing the ANDEL Group result. * Monitoring Group intercompany balances reporting within the Group General Ledger and supporting the resolution of group intercompany differences. * Booking all elimination entries and other group adjustments to the general ledger. * Preparing the group consolidation in excel. * Calculating expense allocation, creating invoices and posting income. * Preparing “first look” group result * Performing review / understanding group effective tax rate. Monitoring the monthly reinsurance bookings and preparation quarterly reinsurance statements with the main reinsurer Aioi Nissay Dowa Japan, working closing with UK and European insurer finance teams. Preparing Group SII own funds and SCR reporting required by Aioi Nissay Dowa Japan, consulting with the regulatory reporting teams in UK and Germany to explain movements on a Group basis. Feeding into the Control Environment Improvement project as required and specifically on policies owned by the Group Financial Reporting team, including Group Accounting Policies. Providing design and implementation support to Finance change / cross functional Change Projects and other queries. Specifically, the new financial systems project, including new “the one” Chart of Accounts and system set up. Liaison with both Internal and External Audit, Risk Management and Actuarial. Management of one team member. Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications: Essential: · Qualified ACA, CIMA, or ACCA (Minimum 5 years) · General Insurance experience (Minimum 2 years) · Advanced understanding of financial reporting process · Ability to problem solve and resolve detailed questions, logical thinker. · Completion of Statutory Accounts under UK GAAP and Group Consolidation under IFRS · IFRS knowledge (IFRS 9, IFRS 16) · Experience of working in a controlled environment supporting risk and compliance regulations · Strong management and communication skills, especially in an international environment · Demonstratable practical experience in key areas of responsibility · Proven track record of working within a deadline driven environment at speed with ability to work on more than one deadline driven task at a time. · Advanced Excel (excluding macros), PowerPoint and Word skills. Desirable: · IFRS 17 knowledge · experience of using Q&A/ SUN
